How many cartons will I need for my move?

When packing for a move it is a good idea to keep all the cartons or boxes you use to a particular size.

So let’s say you are going to have three size cartons, small medium and large all the small should be the same size and medium and large the same. This make for much easier carting and loading. It also helps you too. It must be said that some people do find calculating how many cartons will be moving for there quotation. So rather than worry to much lets give you a few ideas.

The very best way to estimate your total cartons is to spend a little time in each room and visualise, remembering you will most properly throw or give a few things away. Going room to room with pen and paper in hand is okay, but if you print out the O’BRIEN INVENTORY FORM you will find it a far simpler and better way to gain an idea – plus you will be starting to make up your moving list. So make a few notes on what will be packed into cartons and come up with a number. Simple!

It is also a good idea to have an idea of the size of each carton that you are going to use and pack. If it is you’re intention to hire them from Obrien’s or purchase your cartons. Try to have one of each size at home before you go room to room so you can measure them and get an idea of how much each carton will hold.

We believe that cartons are by far the best, simplest and safest way to transport your valuables, you are under no obligation to use our carton service and we do not insist that these be used. Some people like compressed vacuum bags or tea chests. Just with you estimate please be sure to inform our staff of how you intent on transporting you items and the sizes, because this could effect your quotation.

If you do find that the amount of cartons has increased please advise our team. We do allocate a truck that will carry a particular size load and we need to ensure there is sufficient space on the truck for your move.
